Description Suggest change

This is the most accessible route in the winter when the road to summit lake is closed. This route also serves as a great approach for skiers wanting to ski the bowls off the summit. From Pioneer Gulch Trailhead it is 7.5 miles car to car with a little over 4000 feet of elevation gain.

Follow the Pioneer Gulch Trail to where it hits the Diamond Peak Trail. From here, head straight uphill trending to climbers left until the SW Ridge is reached. Follow the southwest ridge all the way to where it meets south ridge, then continue to the summit.
