If you use chalk on the rock, brush it off when you are done. If you use tick marks, brush them off when you are done. Wipe your feet off prior to each climbing attempt. Excess chalk and any dirt, leaves, or mud can polish holds over time. Do not drag your pad from one climb to the next (in order to minimize erosion). And most importantly, Leave No Trace. Pick up your trash and place it in the trash cans at the trail head.
Description
Begin on the fun scoopy sidepull of MoAbs. Once you’ve gained a big flat jug, break right towards the center of the Desert Roof, essentially reversing the crux of Sandstorm, then finish with the brutal power moves of Straight Outta Projects V8. Essentially, climb a V4 into a V7, into a hard V8. Finish on the ledge, and walk left to downclimb the roof crack by the tree. It’s much more comfortable than Sandstorm, as it avoids the nasty razor crimp, and has more interesting movement. Not mentioned in the recent Leich/Griffith guidebook, but pg. 52 covers the Desert Roof and other lines mentioned here.
