Description Suggest change

The difficult area of the North Ridge on Ellingwood is encountered between 13,400 and 13,600 feet in elevation. We descended it, so I describe it as such. At 13,600 feet, there will be a Class 4 chimney dropping to the right (NE) that we downclimbed. After that, we descended directly north on the spine of the ridge, downclimbing slabs with plenty of holds (Class 4-5.0 depending on the line, as many options are available).

Descend to the saddle with Point 13,618 by either staying high on the ridge or by utilizing a grassy bypass ledge right underneath the cliffs on the left (west side) of the ridge. There is some old tat on the saddle for the rappel east into the basin. We continued up and over UN 13,618.

Location Suggest change

The upper part of the ridge from 13,600 is shared with the Zapata Lake route on Ellingwood Ridge and is Class 3 above 13,800 feet. Access the ridge from the Lilly Lake TH.

Protection Suggest change

Natural pro if needed -we didn't use any.
