Description Suggest change

A companion route to Deep Roots. The Lorax follows the wide crack that curves away from the start of Deep Roots. Bolt protected underclings and lie-backs lead you to a traditionally protected groove that brings you to the rap anchors shared with Deep Roots. The natural protection is there, but not always in your face and straightforward. You’ve got to hunt for some placements and so therefore is not a great pitch for a beginning trad leader.
The crux is short and is protected by the second bolt.

Namesake:

The Lorax name comes from the Dr. Seuss story where the Lorax tries to save a forest from being cut down. This route required massive amounts of cleaning. During the process I often questioned where to stop, especially in regards to trees and shrubs growing in and along the route. Since this is a wilderness area, I decided to leave all large, live vegetation as intact as possible. On the last bit of cleaning I tried to take a bit more dirt around the upper bush and was greeted with a few stings from nesting wasps in the dirt. I took this as a sign and left the rest alone. During the FA, no wasps were seen and should be quite safe to lead.

“…I speak for the trees!”
