ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Check this site for details: smithrock.com/seasonal-clos…
Description
Still got more energy (and draws) after climbing Lion Zion? Well you're in luck! Continue past the anchors up 7 more bolts of chalkless nubbins and crimps. Be sure to have enough gas in the tank because it gets steep towards the top.
Route goes at 11a if you start up Gumby but probably closer to 11b/c if you start on Zebra Direct.
Use an 80m rope and rap to the anchors of Lion Zion where one more rappel will just barely get you to the ground.
Bring 22 draws with some alpines in the mix to eliminate rope drag.
