Security patrols are in place to to prevent unauthorized access to the area. There will also be other methods used to confirm and prevent unauthorized access.
Regardless, this is a huge step in the uphill battle to win public climbing access back.
Description
This is what Dr. Kraus was doing twenty years before he was helping JFK with his chronic back pain: putting up good routes in the Gunks with a hemp rope and a few widely spaced soft iron pitons.
Climb the flared shallow chimney and crack system left of the Crevice and directly below the right end of the Foops overhang system. Boulder up into the chimney and climb this (crux). Follow the continuing crack to the overhang and skirt this on the right. Climb easier rock to the top.
I only recently learned that when Hans Kraus died in 1996, a friend carried his ashes up the High Exposure buttress and scattered his ashes to the wind.
