Description Suggest change

This is a really fun moderately difficult route with a short approach and descent making it a great morning or afternoon outing or, if you get a short weather window, a good way to spend a rainy day.

The total climbing on the wire is 30-45 minutes. It is full value with a stemple ladder and a few sections with feet smearing on a holdless, crackless slab.

There are two major approaches. First, you can park at the Hotel Passo Sella Dolomiti about 1/4 mile below the top of the Sella Pass on the west side. You must pay for parking but it is not overly expensive(it cost us 10 Euro). From there take the path then road up to the Rifugio Des Alpes which takes about 30-40 minutes and ascends about 700 feet vertical.

The second major approach takes the Campitello cable car from Canazei which deposits you right at the Rifugio Des Alpes.

From the Rifugio head east then south around the cable car station on path 530 and follow it for about five minutes until you pass under the cable car cables. You are now below the south face of Col Rodella. Follow a faint trail west up towards the bottom of the face. Don't go straight up to the bottom of the face rather contour around for about another five minutes until you see the cable which marks the start of the route.

There is a nice viewing platform and rifugio on top. Descend for 10 minutes down a large path/road back to the Rifugio Des Alpes.

Protection Suggest change
