Hikikomori

V4-5, Boulder, 21 ft (6 m),  Avg: 3.8 from 9 votes
FA: Trevor Mungeam
Massachusetts > Central, MA > Rocky Pond > Shoreline Goliath

Description

This is an excellent, full value boulder problem. Start from a squat on the west face, downhill and right of the nose feature, on a large sloped ledge feature. Traverse along slopers on the lip until you reach an excellent edge just below the lip. Control the pump, and execute a very technical mantel onto the slab above. Cruise the slab the remaining ten feet to the top of the boulder. It's easy climbing up top, but a fall from high up could hurt.

Hikikomori translates roughly from Japanese to "social outcast".

Location

It is on the west face, downhill and right of the nose feature on a sloped ledge feature.

Protection

Crashpads and a maybe spotter to move them.

[Hide Comment] Another stellar problem. The low traverse section went smoother than expected, but that mantel is super tricky. It took me maybe 10-15 attempts to find beta that worked; another really "committing" mantel! and then the slab! Sure it's fairly cruiser, but it is major no-fall territory! Quality climb.
