The NW face and West face routes remain open.
See Closure section below for more details.
Description
This route has it all!
A jungle of poison oak, lichen covered slab climbing, dirt coated finger locks, and even a sprinkle of wet moss and mud on all the jugs. What's not to love?
If you're not covered in rashes and blisters, you didnt do the crux correctly.
Oh wait, this is supposed to be about Beacon?! Not Index?!
Lets try that again...
This route has it all!
An amazing position overlooking the Columbia River, splitter thin hands climbing, and even a beautiful stemming crux capped by a fierce bouldery slab. Wants not to love?
If you not smiling ear to ear after clipping the chains, you're probably still in Index...
jokes aside.
originally graded 5.8 A2, Synchronicity was the last old school aid line that loomed over the west face and has likely only seen a hand full of ascents over the years. Due to the years of neglect, it became overgrown and lost to obscurity until the recent efforts to establish the "upper west side" as a year round option for Beacon free climbing. This route is now fully cleaned (June 2022) and sports 6 new bolts protecting the upper climbing after the seam disappears. Any info on previous aid ascents is welcome. It is unclear to me where the route would have topped out, as there would have had to be at least 50+ feet of hooking to get from seams end, to the hand crack at the chains.
enjoy!
