Description

An old line from the Utah Bouldering Guide

Start with no-hands balanced crystal footwork on the slab to get onto a slim rounded chicken head foot, then dyno right to the large chicken head on the arete.

Figure out a tough and heady mantle, then finish a few more tenuous moves up the final slab.

Long reach makes the big chicken head move a little easier.

Location

NW corner of the Golden Egg Boulder

Protection

4+ pads would be better, but two under the dyno if you’re careful

[Hide Comment] Yes, it is a bit easier to reach the chicken head if you're tall. But being tall doesn't make that mantle any easier.
That landing might be flat but doing it by yourself is super bold. Jan 15, 2022

[Hide Comment] It felt reasonably controlled up to the mantle, but definitely wouldn’t want to fall after that Jan 15, 2022

[Hide Comment] I could hear the crispy rock under your feet on that upper slab! Feb 3, 2022

[Hide Comment] I remember thinking there had to be a way to do this thing without the heinous mantle. Spent a couple sessions cheese grating my way down the slab after peeling off an imaginary hold or a very real potato chip. Tried this beta a couple times but lack of commitment and one spectacular swing to upsidedown faceplant convinced me V7 in LCC would never happen. Feb 3, 2022
