Description
Look for the obvious overhanging block on the South Face of Owens ridge on Rock II. There are two routes on it, "Under the Block" and this one.
Easy start is beyond a tree to the right, otherwise you can take the steep chute from the ground up and right 50ft to a tree on a sandy ledge. Climb the tree and blocks to a ledge leading back to the chute, then to the tree above.
Next are two hard cracks; the left is 5.10a, the right is 5.8. Climb either to the oak tree, then to the black rocks.
Climb past two bolts to a black rock, then from the top of the black rock climb to a grassy ledge. From the grassy ledge, down left is easier, directly up and left of the bolts is 5.9.
Continue over a block above and up the righthand gully. Belay at the horizontal fault that passes 10ft below the Block.
Go left a few feet, undercling the rightfacing corner above, and move onto a ledge that leads to a large bush. Take the 5.6 lieback cracks to the ridge.
Descend by hiking South-Southeast on easy 3rd class to the notch back to the sandy base of other climbs.
