Description
This route begins on the ledge which is easy to scramble up from the right. You can tether your belayer to an eyebolt in the tree up there if needed. The left leaning flake provides some handholds to get started. Footholds are more of a problem so be prepared to smear. The crux is getting past the first two bolts.
Alcatraz Island, in the San Francisco bay, has been home to a Civil War fortress, a military prison,' and a federal prison. Al Capone spent four years there. Alcatraz is now a national park.
