The Ramp aka Cursed Slab

5.7, Sport, TR, 40 ft (12 m),  Avg: 2.4 from 49 votes
FA: unknown
Massachusetts > Western MA > Mormon Hollow > Mormon Hollow - Right…

Description

19. This is the 5.7 sport warm-up. Follow four bolts up a clean slab to an anchor above the roof. A small cam (green Alien) between the 3rd and 4th bolts makes it less runout. Beware of rope drag and a swing factor when lowering.

Location

This ascends the obvious slab on Priaprism Buttress.

Protection

Bolts + an anchor.

[Hide Comment] Not suggested on toprope without directionals in bolts. Even with directionals, the swing is not great. If someone on toprope falls early on in the climb, they can swing over to Priaprism, and the rope will drag on the sharp edge on the right side of the climb. The ropes have been cut. Mar 21, 2019

[Hide Comment] I like it when slabs are bolted closer than verticals or overhangs. These bolts are not so close, probably not for the budding 5.7 leader. May 25, 2020

[Hide Comment] If you are a new leader to 5.7, this will teach you to screw your head on right. The bolts are close enough to prevent decking. Remember to stand on your feet, and think it out! Nov 22, 2020
