Description
Fun Run is one of a small number of excellent traditional climbs at Skaha, and is highly recommended.
Scramble up to the top of a large pedestal/platform, then climb the thin corner via jams, lay backs, and stemming. A roof provides the crux, and then the difficulties ease as the angle lessens. At the end another roof provides the mental crux, and is bypassed on the left.
Belay from just below the top on a small ledge at a chain anchor, or on the top of the wall from a tree.
Descend via rappel. A 40 metre rappel will reach the ground. Alternately a 35 metre reaches an anchor just above the ground on the route Test of the Ironman. A second short rappel reaches the ground. Alternately a 7 metre rappel reaches the upper anchors of Test of the Ironman and then a second rappel of 35 metres reaches the ground. It is also possible to walk off to the north from the top of the crag.
Location
Located at the south end of Great White Wall, near and right of the immensely popular Test of the Ironman, Fun Run climbs a crack up and left to a roof system at the top of the wall. Located just to the right of the route Violator, and to the left of the obvious Eerily Hanging Out.
Protection
With the exception of the roof at the end, which is a bit run out, Fun Run protects very well. The emphasis is on small cams and nuts. Bring many long slings to mitigate rope drag.
