Description
Approach up the steep snow slope and belay. The main formation in the middle is WI3-3+. Around the corner is a tight gully that's probably WI2+. Both options also have some moderately steep snow. Where the gully widens above there is an obvious good-sized tree you use as an anchor; if climbing the main formation you can top out and cut right over to this same tree.
Above the tree the gully continues at an easier angle.
Above the tree the gully continues at an easier angle.
Location
This is located between the stone hut and the top of the Notch on the Elephant's Head (east) side of the road. Coming from Stowe, look for the Hunter and Dog rock formation, a large squarish stone block (the dog) sitting beneath a square cut roof (the hunter). It's an open "V" shaped gully but smaller than its neighbor to climber's right, the Playground.
