[Hide Comment] I found this face unreasonably difficult for the rating. There are a handful of decent to good holds, but the feet are non-existent for the 2nd half of the climb. Perhaps the feet have been polished away over time from traffic? Idk seemed pretty rough. Sep 2, 2018

[Hide Comment] I'd have to agree. This route is difficult for its rating. Oct 12, 2018

[Hide Comment] Climbing ratings' by their very nature are subjective. This is a very old route from when 5.11 was the highest rating..
I gave it the rating that it originally was given almost 40 years ago. Gym climbers may have a hard time on this one. These are not your gyms ratings. Oct 13, 2018

[Hide Comment] Yeah, the old school ratings are brutal. This is 5.11 the same way Silver Spot at Carderock is 5.10. But that is what makes these areas remarkable. And makes the climbers strong. Jun 19, 2019

[Hide Comment] Yeah this is a tough line, but on par for the grading at great falls, which is stiff in general. The importance of the right feet more critical at GF than almost anywhere as the rock is very slick and frequently requires smears. There's usually a hard to spot nubbin.

The old school grading is no joke, but routes seem alot easier once the moves dialed. There's a 5.9 (B-52) at Microdome harder than several of the 5.11's out there but I guarantee it could be easier for me if I could just find the right feet!!

In general it's been great having cut my teeth here, free soloing easy routes as teenager and then my ropes apprenticeship in my 20's. Start here and most places grades feel soft. Dec 4, 2020
