Description Suggest change

40 - 60 feet high depending on the size of the base. Mostly WI2 with some WI3 sections.

The one nice aspect of this falls is that it's much easier to descend from the top of the falls. There's a slippery path down the left side (climber's left).

Location Suggest change

This is the third falls you'll encounter going downstream. It's actually a feeder branch of the main Plotterkill (the falls are about 50 yards upstream from the intersection of Rynex creek and the main river). If coming from the upstream, Mariaville Road parking lot, take the main (red) trail downstream (passing the main falls) for about 10 minutes. You'll also pass the 2nd falls, but they are hard to see from trail. Go straight down for about 50 yards rather than following the trail when it makes a hard left (and heads slightly uphill). This will put you at the top of Rynex Falls.

Protection Suggest change

A few ice screws and some for any top rope anchor (or use a long static line to anchor to trees on either size of the river).
