The Black Roof

5.10c, Sport, 90 ft (27 m),  Avg: 3.1 from 15 votes
FA: unknown
Colorado > Steamboat Springs > Cougar > Main Amphitheater

Description

This is long, varied, and sustained. The Black Roof is a classic. The direct start is a bit bouldery, or skip this by going left to clip the first bolt. Climb on crimps, then go through the glorious roof to a slopey finish.

Location

When standing at the base of the wall, the route is front and center. It is the bolt line that skirts to the right of a large, black roof.

Protection

~13 bolts.

[Hide Comment] Must do, quite the classic route at the grade - she just flows like fine wine. Jul 24, 2022

[Hide Comment] The direct start up through the first bolt feels like a V3 boulder problem, but the rest of the climb feels like wonderful, flowy 5.10. Anyway, I'm stickclipping this from now on. Jun 9, 2024
