Steelworker

5.12c, Sport, 80 ft (24 m),  Avg: 3.9 from 27 votes
FA: Porter Jarrard, Jeff Moll - 1993
Kentucky > Red River Gorge > Natural Bridge… > Torrent Falls (Limite…

Description

Steep bouldery start yeilds to continuous climbing on OK holds, nothing too great. Rest as best you can because a difficult crux on pockets awaits at 2/3's or 3/4 height. From the crux more pumpy climbing leads up to the anchor. A stellar outting.

Location

The 3rd route from the left on the 5.12 wall. Big money grip, Bare Metal Teen, Steelworker, Racer X.

Protection

Permadraws (after first bolt) and two drop in anchors.

[Hide Comment] Defines 12c. Perhaps Porter Jarrard’s finest route. Classic multiple crux route. Final thrutching pocket pulling affair up high demoralizes many an intrepid soul. It pairs well with warmups on The Teen and The Grip with a follow up finale of Racer X Sep 18, 2022
