Description

The Crown refers to the final hold of the climb, a bulbous knob that you will learn to love. To reach it, sit start low in an awkward pocket with slippery feet. Depending on your height, moving off of this could be the crux (tall people will have trouble here, short people at the top). Move up and left to a good sidepull pocket with a thumb catch. Right hand then goes up to a similar hold. After two more similar sidepull moves, establish feet and pull on hard for the crown. Top out easily.

This problem is enjoyable because you are constantly shifting your weight across the face while using the various sidepulls. The final deadpoint, while intimidating, is fairly straightforward.

Location

The Crown is nearly the closest problem to the lookout. It is located near the entrance to a narrow corridor, across from Wa Wa Wa. Descend the back of the boulder. Meets at the corner of a highlife boulder, channel between two should be on your right when facing the crown. Tree is right in front of this problem.

Protection

Several pads. The final move is somewhat high off the deck.

[Hide Comment] If you are short you must get high feet to reach the crown up top Jan 23, 2012
[Hide Comment] Looks like the start hold broke a bit. Starting move now feels like a one move 4 or 5. Not a hundred percent certain, anyone else who knows the climb better able to confirm? Feb 26, 2024
