Bucket Prow

5.6 V0-, TR, Boulder, 30 ft (9 m),  Avg: 2.4 from 74 votes
FA: unknown
California > San Francisco B… > E Bay Area > Berkeley > Remillard Park > Main Formation

Description

The left-most climb that faces the road on Main Formation. Lots of large holds on a steep broad arete. Much more exciting beginner climb than a slab.

Protection

There is a old (but sturdy!) metal pole sticking out of the top of the Pinnacle, from which, you can set up a top rope for most of the routes on the rock. Bring a long sling because the top is not steep at all.

There are now bolted anchors near the top of the route. A top rope can be setup with 5 ft slings.

[Hide Comment] For a 5.6 this route is a great workout, and it makes for an excellent warmup prior to bouldering or top-roping. This is a great 5.6 route. Period.

Brian mentioned a long sling for this route, I think 25' will suffice. Oct 19, 2002

[Hide Comment] for sure I use 25 foot slings. Good for warming up the fingers, and a good route for first timers. Jun 5, 2010

[Hide Comment] When you say 25' sling, do you mean a 25' loop (covering 12') made from webbing? I've never seen 25' slings for sale.

Thanks :D Jun 14, 2015

[Hide Comment] Awesome route to take first time climbers. Like mentioned before, the anchors are about 20 feet back from the top of this climb. May 20, 2018

[Hide Comment] New shiny bolts for this route, much closer to the edge. No need to bring the 25 foot slings. Thank you to whoever re-bolted this! Jul 11, 2018
