Transverse, occipital, depressed skull fracture through my helmet. Only a small scalp laceration, sprained ankle, and minor cuts otherwise. I was able to walk out, and my head was like this for almost 3 days before it was fixed in surgery.

The whole deal. Be safe, everyone. Go with a partner, wear helmets, and have rescue knowledge and a way to save yourself if you are alone. I was nearly blind from hitting my head, had to survive for 36 hours out in my van due to a snowstorm and no cell reception, and was not being able to see enough to drive out.

The dream, shattered like my skull on rocks.
