Hi. I have a site reservation at Watchman campground but cant go. A friend of mine will. In Recreation.gov the rule below is listed. I do not recall this being enforced in practice, in any National Park. Has this changed? Can anyone share if Photo IDs are systematically checked against the name in the reservation? Thanks!

“Photo ID: The primary occupant listed on the camping reservation must present a photo ID upon check-in at Zion National Park campgrounds. The name of the primary occupant cannot be changed once a reservation is made. This rule is in place due to the competitive nature of the location and to prevent visitors from re-selling their site”

The parks are getting complaints of people doing exactly what you have posted from wreck.gov. Your best option is to release the site and have your friend sitting on their computer refreshing the dates and the grab them. I have done this before with similar permits.

I've brought a photo of a friend's ID to check in at Yosemite when I arrived before them.
