Headed to The Breaks in a few weeks and really excited.

As far as the grades, are they stiff, soft, or just right? Loads of short 12s I loved to get on if possible but at most I'm an 11a lead at the new

For the most part I find them on the soft side compared to the New, though every once in a while you'll get on something down there that isn't. Have a blast, it's tons of fun down there and not crowded at all.

Heading there on Monday for a week or so. Very much looking forward to it---hope the weather cooperates. I have heard that a long clip stick is a good idea there, as many of the first bolts are very high.

That is correct.

I miss that place. I need to get back soon. I think the grades are in the middle. Some things may feel harder if they have traditional gear or is a style you're not used to. I am sure there are some grade trends depending on the FA group.

The grades will feel soft compared to the new. Some of the routes are less traveled and might be dirty which might make them feel harder.  Enjoy your trip!

In my limited experience the grades felt pretty spot on. Dominion 10d was my favorite route of any grade. Lots of amenities as far as the park goes, however it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere so pack accordingly. Prospector Trail/ Laurel Lake make for mellow rest day activities. Keep your eyes peeled for the Eastern Newt (orange salamanders)!

Just back from there. Great place. Beautiful and very good climbing. Didn't find the grades to be soft---especially some of the very undercut starts. On some, you start off rock stacks, but even with them, in several instances, the difficulty of the starting moves was significantly harder than the remainder of the route---and than the stated grade. Aside from those routes though, the quality of the climbing and the rock was excellent.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
