HACKED? - Backcountry.com - weird email.

I got an email from backcountry.com stating that an order had shipped. I looked up the order number and it is from 3 years ago. Either my account or the site was hacked or there is a free snowboard and bindings headed my way. Since these have both been out of stock for some time I don't think its the latter... Did anyone else get a similar email?

The weird thing is - there is no phishing hook - no "click this link", no number to call. I am pretty confused.

I'm no expert but it seems like a glitch in their system rather than a malicious hack.  Who knows these days though, the internet is in a downward spiral...

I'd also check the sender's email address. Scammers like to pretend that they're verizon or Walmart to appear on your safe list but you'll find that it's ver1zon or wa1mart. If there's no hook, I'm not sure what the scam is either but it's good that you're aware.

Have you checked your credit card to see if you ordered it while you were on medication or drunk? A comedian has a bit about ordering stuff while on ambien.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
