Just got some atomic backland tour ski bindings. Regarding the spare heel pieces, is there any reason to keep them?  They are slightly different than the ones installed. Also any idea what the clips with the sting thing is on the right?

The clips are for ski crampons.

Those are the different included u-springs. They come standard with women’s, men’s, and expert. Relative dins being 6-7, 8-9, 10+ so you can install whatever retention u-spring you want. Those inserts Greg mentioned are required as an adapter when using Dynafit type ski crampons. Otherwise you can use a plume style ski crampon without that little plastic insert/adapter.

This is the correct answer. I bought some used skis and could barely even get my heel engaged "expert" DIN spring, so definitely don't get rid of them (also take stock of which ones are currently installed on your skis and what you actually want).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
