Black Diamond Solution Hoodie Durability Concern

I recently bought a BD Solution Hoodie as I was in the market for a warm yet breathable mid layer. Yesterday I wore it for the first time while out ice climbing and was very happy with its performance. However, at the end of the day I noticed that it was already beginning to fray and pill in the chest and shoulder areas. See photos for reference but imo the pictures doesn’t fully show the extent of the fraying. Have you experienced this issue? I’m worried about the durability of this jacket if this is what it looks like after one use! Also, I wore a shell over it all day and didn’t rub up against any rocks or anything that would cause such abrasion. I was wearing a back pack and it seems like where the straps sit is where the jacket is showing wear, though I feel like a backpack shouldn’t cause this much damage after just one use. Anyone have experience with BD customer service and what they might say if I brought this issue up?

Not pilling or fraying (I suggest you look those words up for future use), looks like some delamination in the area, a common crib death issue with laminated materials. If I were to guess, it's the scrim of the insulation bonded to the face fabric that has failed.

It's a QC issue, just warranty it.

Laminated stuff is great but tricky to get right, if stock is left out for too long in a slightly humid room, the whole bond can completely fail.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
