Anyone try one yet? Looks like an even more ultralight version of the Sitta. Not sure if this one is as all-round as the Sitta is or meant for just ice, skiing, and alpine.

The fixed/closed leg loop design doesn’t accommodate skiing too well IME. Seems like it’s “just” a lighter sitta? I’m looking to replace my old one and am curious as well how the whisper compares….

Yeah, I wonder if they plan for it to replace the Sitta entirely in their lineup

If you like Whisper check the new Blue Ice Choucas Pro.

The new one looks to have solved most of the issues I had with the previous model. That's not always a given!

What issues did you have with the previous model?

The old one was pretty good but it had a couple flaws that sucked.

  • The clipper slot placement left a lot to be desired.
  • The way the gear loops attached caused waist belt bunching, folding, and collapsing when loaded up.
  • Some people had problems with the toggle loops on the legs being sewn so tight that they could not be opened.

The new Choucas pro seems to have addressed these. Time will tell how successfully, but it’s good to see that Blue Ice was aware and continually trying to improve the product.

for me:

- soft gearloops

- under too much weight on the gearloops may bend the upper in half of the waistband

other than that its very nice harness for what it is

Update - just got the Whisper and went with the size medium, as that’s my Sitta size. It looked a little smaller on the specs, but I’m a size 31/32 so it should fit. It does, but just barely! I’d size up if your in the edge, and if there were more Larges in stock I would exchange for a large! I don’t think the Large will work for anyone even in the 34 size range. Try it on first if possible!

It is wildly lightweight and compact… I loaded it with a full rack and I think it’ll work? I was hoping this would be an all-rounder, but I think it will likely be a specialized, long approach, more mtneering piece (as advertised… lol)

Very helpful Nathan thanks! Just ordered a medium, and about the same size as you so hopefully it fits

I believe this replaces the Sitta...... Unless petzl re-releases the Sitta, it's no longer on their dealer portal.
Which is not usual if they have iterations of a product already in their line.

The Whisper does not replace the Sitta. They might look similar in pictures but the Whisper is substantially lighter and more pack able. For alpine objectives where you are wearing more layers or spending less time hanging the Whisper will be ideal. If you will be taking falls or spending time hanging then the Sitta will be better.

Sitta was updated in January last year and is still on Petzl’s website. It will not be discontinued anytime soon.

Just checked, It's back on the dealer portal as well. Its was removed for a while which is odd IME. Usually just can backorder it.
Good news if you're into the current iteration of it.

Disregard my above post, people of the proj...I was wrong.

I have about 15 days climbing in the Whisper (all ice so far). For ice climbing, it feels no different than the new sitta in regards to comfort. It does run slightly smaller than the sitta. I do wish they had 4 ice clipper slots.

Haven't used it, but it just looks like an orange Addax to me, costing double.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
