Hey everyone,

I’m planning a Mount Whitney winter ascent via the Mountaineers Route and looking for partners to join me. I had a group I was supposed to go with but plans changed.

Trip Details:

Route: Mountaineers Route

Dates: February 14th 2025 to February 16th 2025

Duration: 3-4 days (Lower Boy Scout Lake base camp, summit push, descent)

Experience Level: Intermediate to advanced (must be comfortable with crampons, ice axe, and winter conditions)

What to Expect:

Steep snow climbing (40-50° final chute)

Cold temperatures and potential high winds

Heavy pack for winter camping

Stunning alpine scenery and an epic challenge

I have all the necessary gear, a Garmin inReach Mini 2 for safety, and previous experience in winter conditions. Ideally looking for experienced mountaineers or strong hikers with solid winter skills.

If you’re interested, reply here or DM me! Let’s coordinate and make this happen.

You should take a really good look at the forecast for Feb 13th 2025, then consider how that will influence avalanche risks, and then reconsider your carefully made plans.

+1, Listen to Alex, he knows what he is talking about.

The atmospheric river may drop as much as 5 feet of snow on Mt. Whitney. Avalanche hazard will be extreme to say the least.

Hey guys! Needless to say I did NOT go out and try and summit Whitney during this past weekend’s snow storm. I went out and instead did some practice mountaineering over on San Gorgonio. Felt like that was an easier task to handle and would still be a good practice run for MR. I postponed my MR endeavor until end of next month when hopefully weather will be more favorable. Thank you for looking out!
