Here is dilemma I've found myself in, and thus I call upon those that know more than me.
leader gets on up to the next pitch builds anchor
Leader pulls up tagline with the mini pig.
This contains: tagline line bag, which then gets flaked into it
The Haul Line
The rest of the Haul line (10-15m or whatever) remains in the Snake charmer, gets clipped to the swivel, and the bag is hauled.
But Herein lies the problem*
Option 1:
The Leader Hauls, but, gasp* without a bag to flake into, so they are now forced to let the rope dangle, or coil it into a sling
once done hauling, the haul line is REFLAKED again, into the snake charmer.
This Seems like a waste of time. ( to coil, then reflake again into the bag)
Option 2:
Before the leader pulls the tag line, the follower takes out all the haul line, and makes it not dangle (???) and then the rope bag is tagged up with the mini piglet.
7. Now the leader can flake the tag line into the tag line bag, and can flake the haul line into the snake charmer.
But this isnt perfect either because of all the extra haul line that would either dangle, or require flaking and clipping to the pig etc. it also requires taking out the extra 10-20m or whatever of excess haul line every pitch as well
So. Here is the solution i came up with, which I'm sure isn't the best which is why I'm reaching out here.
Forego the snake charmer :((((
With 2 separated rope bags, one bag that contained the lead line can get pulled up with the piglet, then then haul line could get stacked into it, and when the haul bag arrives with the other bag, the top end of the haul line can get pancake flipped on top of the original bag
after all this, the lead line can get stuck back into its OG bag and everything is hunky-dory.
Anyways, how do you guys incorporate the snake charmer into you systems and what am I doing wrong
2 IKEA bags - one inside the other and held into place with duct tape around the entire top edge to make a single ultralight double-thickness bag - is a $2 solution giving you an extra haul line bag, and an extra degree of freedom.
I prefer the dual Rope Bucket system. The lead Rope Bucket gets rolled up and has loops so it can be clipped to the follower when cleaning. The haul line Rope Bucket gets clipped to the pigs. The leader just hauls and stuffs the rope when he’s finished. Could also send the haul line bag up with the haul kit and what not.
