Asking for a friend.... For a while now there has been a big sign and chain across boulder falls trail saying it is closed.  What would be the consequences for ignoring it and accessing the crags of lower Dream Canyon.  I am sure microspikes are a good idea.  Could you just go up the little gully to the west to go around the trail portion of the approach?

I feel like I have definitely stepped over that chain before. I'm pretty sure it's mostly to protect the city from liability if anyone slips on that icy-ass trail. I've climbed at Plotnis wall up there all winter before.

It's specifically closed now because of a rockslide a couple months ago: https://bouldercolorado.gov/news/city-closes-boulder-falls

Access to the trails is closed because of a massive rock fall and the area is incredibly unstable. The trail to the keyhole is blocked.

The area is dangerous and should not be accessed via the Falls Trail for any reason. Access to Plotinus took many years to obtain and is predicated on us-climbers being good stewards.

The city is assessing the damage and getting engineering analysis. But work will likely not begin until summer at the earliest.

We will keep everyone updated on this and all closures on our closures page:
