Look for recommendations for easy (5.6 to 5.9) climbing in/around Zion for end of April. Easy approaches are optimal (traveling with four kids) with fun sport climbing (I don’t want to haul a rack along with us). What do folks suggest? Thanks in advance!!
Chuckwalla Wall in St. George has basically zero approach and a good setting for a group to hang out. Although a lot of it is harder, the right side has several moderates (5.9-5.10s with lots of jugs) in a row, so it still could be a good option depending on how everyone is feeling. I found it to be a perfect place for a more relaxing day after a couple of more intense multi-pitch trad days in Zion.

Not much to speak of right by Zion. I would take the 1 hr drive down to Saint George, plenty to do in bolted low grades there. Todd Goss's SW Utah guide will get you around, however It will be starting to get warm. Most of the main areas around there do get a lot of sun. If you can go a little further south, Kelly's Rock is a Limestone crag that has enough easy rtes for the day. Casual approach and shady.
This area is cool but not too many easy climbs. Nice hang, good camping and you can climb sun/shade during the day. You would drive out of the east entrance of Zion to get there.
I think Veyo Pool/Crawdad Canyon will be open at that time, although it's another 20 minutes or so past Chuckwalla Wall and St George. There is an entrance fee ($16 each). There are hundreds of climbs including a lot of 5.6-5.7. It's shady and will be cooler than other areas in the summer, and there's a pool you can use to cool down which kids will probably appreciate.
