Help me find this movie

A while back we watched a climbing movie where, I think at the end, the guy it followed was basically like "Welp, I went to Patagonia for an expedition - the weather was horrible so I only got a single day to climb, I'm broke, my GF broke up with me, and now I'm back in Boulder hanging up Christmas lights".

Was it The Sanctity of Space (about attempting the Tooth Traverse inspired by Brad Washburn's photo)? It's been a couple years since I saw it, but I feel like I remember a similar scene.

I don't believe so, I just rewatched the last 15 min or so of that to make sure and it would appear not

Ah, okay. I do think Zack Smith talks about stringing Christmas lights for work in The Sanctity of Space – it's mentioned in this review that he has to do gigs including that to fund his climbing while the others on the team are pro climbers with sponsor money – but I think it's earlier in the film, because he drops out of the expedition and isn't a part of the team when they actually complete the Tooth Traverse.

Turns out the scene was about 5 minutes before where I started watching - and it sure wasn't fun and lighthearted like I thought but instead incredibly sad and heartfelt. But you were indeed correct all along Kate! Thanks for revisiting, I for sure had stored it differently in my mind.

Glad we figured it out! I didn't totally recall the scene either, but I specifically remembered he talked about hanging Christmas lights, so it just felt like it was what you were describing.

I vividly recall that scene. It's hard to remember what it's from because it kind of runs parallel to the Washburn story, I probably wouldn't have been able to place it either.
