I fractured my metacarpal in my thumb skiing and needed to get surgery. 7 screws, a plate, and cadaver bone later, my thumb bone was straight again. I was mostly concerned about how climbing with a plate in my hand would feel. My biggest concern is about jamming, specifically fist jams where pressure is on that bone. Has anyone had this injury and have advice? Thanks!
I fractured the base of my thumb metacarpal like a decade ago in a cycling accident. Sounds like it wasn't as bad as yours: 3 pins but no plate or bone graft. Honestly it doesn't give me any issues climbing, so I don't really have any advice, but hopefully your experience is similar!
