Using Rocky Gap Road to approach Buffalo Wall - Condition Report

I want to check out Buffalo Wall from the top down. I know Rocky Gap road gets really gnarly far up. However I have read parking for BW is about 2.5 miles from the pavement end via Red Rock. What kind of rig can make it 2.5mi up the road? AWD? High Clearance 4WD? Thanks!

High clearance 4WD and a good driver to get there without scraping

Assuming you don't have the vehicle for it, there is a fun but relatively involved extreme hiker trail that roughly follows the red line I have drawn here. Cairns most of the way once you are established in the drainage above willow springs. Expect it to take 2-3 hours. Enjoy the beautiful views.

For the extra cherry on top of the day, descend via hidden falls canyon - the green line just north of the red line - bluugnome.com/cyn_route/red…

Avis and Budget at Harry Reid are both renting Jeep Wranglers currently that would get there assuming the driver is competent (Rubicon, Willys, or the 4XE depending which is there at the time).  The Avis ones have ridiculously aggressive off road tires to the point where you can barely have a conversation inside due to the tire noise on the freeway.  It definitely goes against the rental agreement but whether that matters is up to you.

Appreciate that but it is too expensive.

Thanks so much.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
