Scarpa vs La Sportiva Sizing

I currently wear the Scarpa Quantics in size 42 EU, but I have very narrow heels so they have quite a lot of deadspace for me. I am looking at the La Sportiva Solutions or Skwamas and was considering the women's versions to combat the deadspace issue. The issue is no store or gym near me stocks the upper limit sizes for either of these shoes (42 EU), so I would have to order them online. I'd like to avoid having to return pairs multiple times if possible. What is the La Sportiva sizing like compared to Scarpa.

Solutions and Skwamas in the same size will have a tighter heel. You may want to try them in the same size before downsizing too much.

Would you recommend going to the women's model, or is the heel on the men's model still significantly tighter?

I have a tiny heel and wear women's solution comps, but really depends on your foot shape. Have never worn a quantic so can't compare unfortunately.

I’ve heard people say that they generally up size Scarpa vs Sportiva, maybe one euro size? That being said, I’m currently wearing a women’s quantic eu 41 1/2 and I used to wear the same size in solutions (haven’t worn them in a year or two, partially bc i never got around to sending them out for resoling them lol, but also bc I didn’t like the lack of sensitivity in the heel cup, even though it was a snug fit). Can’t say I’ve found the quantic heel to be super baggy for me, but the solution heel is definitely a more snug fit in the same size. Solutions were a men’s regular (not comp)

I have both men’s and women’s Solutions and they fit the same way. The women’s version is just softer which I usually prefer.

I’d say go with the Solution if you have more narrow forefoot/longer big toe and Skwama if you have a wider forefoot/longer 2nd toe. Expect men’s and women’s version to fit the same, but the women’s will be softer.

As far as sizing goes, I don’t wear Scarpa so I can’t speak to that comparison. I wear men’s US size 9 in running shoes and my La Sportiva performance fit is size 39.5.

I size down one full size. I wear 45 in Scarpa instincts and wear a size 44 solution for a similar fit.
