Anyone been climbing in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma? Best time to visit? Best place to camp? Thank you!!

Though I never have, most everyone I’ve heard camping stays at Dorris Camp ground. Reservations can be found here,

Along with that, a google search will show plenty of other options for camping around the Medicine Park area.

Climbing in the refuge can be found year round, chasing shade in the summer and sun in the winter. Fall and spring are generally the most comfortable times to climb. The refuge opens at sunrise and closes at sunset, with the exception of Mount Scott where the road is closed to vehicles on weekend mornings until noon.

If you need a partner, the OKC Climb Facebook group is probably your best bet.
