Teton Conditions & Mike Gardner

This Columbus Day weekend seems like a good time to say goodbye to the people who explore the corners of our world. Teton guide Mike Gardner suffered a fatal fall on Jannu East (7,468m). Jannu (also known as Khumbhakarna or Phoktanglungma) stands in eastern Nepal, 9.5km west of 8,586m Kangchenjunga, on the Indian border.

FWIW: Conditions on the Grand's south aspects were great this CD weekend. And the OS was fine. All hazards avoidable. Many climbers were on various peaks and routes, mostly south facing.
