Do any climbers in the northwest also scuba dive? Just got my open water cert this year.

I did my OW/AOW out there in the Sound but never ended up doing much other diving though before I moved. I think you have to be pretty dedicated to dive there regularly.

Ever since I started wintering in AK I’ve been sneaking down to Roatan, primarily snorkeling. Need it to break up the darkness

You spend winter in Alaska?

Summer too, but it started as a summer only thing...Not really the point tho lol

Roatan is a pretty popular long stay scuba/snorkel destination due to good exchange rate and better weather. Check it out if you’ve never been and you’re into scuba

Sooner or later I’ll make it to warmer waters. Was hoping to find people locally who both climb and dive. Would make weekend trips to deep water solo in the summer more interesting.

I freedive spearfish the Oregon coast often. Just got a bcd from a buddy and have been thinking about getting a scuba setup/certification. Where do you dive?

Only the columbia around Tri-Cities so far. Very new myself. Definitely get the certification, I learned a lot

Not local myself, but I’ve done a bit up there in the Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver areas, and up the coast to Alaska.  Love the giant octopuses.  Rich in marine life.  Enjoy the diving and definitely continue the advanced education process (not necessarily continuing all the “certification” processes offered)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
