Repairing leg loop centering strap

I broke the strap in an awkward fall and am wondering if anybody has any good ways to repair or replace it.

I thought it would be fine to just not, but the rope loop seems to load the blue part 50%+ of the time which is both uncomfortable and will quickly trash the leg loops.

How about a lengh of 2mm accessory cord with a slip knot on either end tightened where the black part ends? Not elastic, but if you get it short enough it should keep the belay loop in place.

I sewed mine with heavy duty thread and it's holding up very well, I've gotten several hundred pitches in that harness post sewing (it's now my gym harness) and it doesn't have any signs of coming apart any time soon.

Think it was even the same harness. BD Solution?

Just stitch it back together. It doesn’t need to look good.

Yeah it's a Solution. I suck at sewing and didn't think it was possible because how stiff the leg loop is, but I'll give it a shot.

It’ll probably suffice if you just stitch through the outer cloth of the loop and don’t try to go all the way through.  Otherwise grab a thimble and strong needle.

You can use pliers to pull the needle through the material if it’s thick/stiff.

I think I actually used a curved needle, that helped a lot.

This happened to me and I did a field repair with a bunch of climbing tape. Ended up using the harness that way for a year and replaced it for other reasons.

I like it. Hopefully it's that durable for me, too.

We'll see if a gym employee has a problem with it; they wouldn't let me use my old harness with a tape keeper strap.

That’s hilarious. The tape is probably stronger than the skinny elastic bands it comes with! A few years back my go-to harness had taped leg loop keepers and a hand tied webbing belay loop. I wonder what gym staff would’ve thought of that!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
