Big Wall Food One Can't Go Without
|
As I'm starting to think about the upcoming big wall diet and planning, I'm wondering what you all have found as great big wall foods (excluding water and tasty bites). I found the 5 day old xtra large pizza in a ziploc bag to be absolutely exquisite last year on the Salathe. Also a big fan of the premade PB&J's with honey - thinking about taking it to the next level this year by slapping those goods on some cinnamon raison bread (thanks Corey). What's a must in your kit? People's pets? Pasta in a bag? |

My go-to snack is to buy a sleeve of five high-preservative bagels, like the Thomas brand (I prefer the blueberry ones for a hint of sweetness). I add sharp cheddar and salami to each bagel, then re-pack them in the original sleeve. For an extra salty kick, I add a few pickle slices. I've kept these unrefrigerated for up to four days without any issues, they may look more like a pancake after a day, but for some reason they taste better that way ;) Electrolyte Drink. Helps you hydrate and something that tastes good goes a long way. Summit Libations (if that's your thing): |

This is a huge splurge but I won't go up a wall without it now. I bring a pound of jerkyjerkyfresno.com. Super pricey at $50 / lb but such a great treat everyday. Almost more like melt brisket than traditional jerky. For dinners I usually do ready-to-eat, premade pasta that comes in pouches. I add Poshi-brand pouched veggies and a bit of pesto from a pouch. The pesto is super good for dipping bagels in too. I was on the Salathe with you last season. Cheers and see ya out there in a few weeks! |

I see your from AZ, so I will leave this here… I have yet to send a true “big wall”. But when I do, it will include a day or two old XL “Barro’s Special”, sub their ham for Italian sausage. |

One of my friends made "super sandos" on our first wall together. pb&j and salami and cheese and lettuce. I thought these were two different types of sandwiches on the list. He made every darn sandwich for the entire route like this. At first I was pissed, but since have definitely hopped on the super sando train. Can't do a wall without them now! Nice hard cheeses are also great to supplement dinner. Ie, compte, manchego, etc. Almost makes the experience feel civilized. |

seems like both partners doing a water fast with REAL brand salt in it for 24-72 hours would be ideal if summer time and eating is decided upon then a 14-18 pound seeded watermelon is wonderful if its cold outside then keto diet seems wise for big wall pack jars of coconut oil and bacon and bacon fat rendered talo in jars |

I ain’t a big waller, but I’m a thru-hiker and let me introduce to y’all: Knorr’s Rice Sides. Bring a small Tupperware like a Talenti jar and cold soak it. (Add into a jar with cold water in the morning and it’ll be ready by lunch or prep at lunch and it’s ready by dinner ~4hrs) Add tuna, salmon, chicken, or spam packet. I also cold soak minute rice and bring seaweed + salmon pouch and mayo/soysauce packets. Make sushi bowls. |
