Hey guys, looking for info on a general place to start as far as an injury to the ulnar/funny bone goes. I don't even know what type of doctor I need to go to if I need to see one.
Anyway, about a week ago I was bouldering, got to the top of the warm-up problem and as I was down climbing or doing whatever I was doing, I hit my funny bone the hardest I've ever hit in my life. My left hand and arm were numb for a solid couple of minutes, but I continued to climb. Now honestly I wouldn't be worrying that much if it was only that, but now it seems as if the ulnar nerve is hyper-sensitive / inflamed and almost out of place when compared to the other arm. It seems whenever my arm is bent, and now sometimes when I even set my elbow on a tabletop or bump it against something the wrong way, I get that funny bone sensation in my fingers and arm. One more note I will add is that, when doing pullups, in both arms when I transition from bent to fully straight extended I do feel some type of ligament or something move around in there during that movement, idk just thought I'd throw that in for context on my elbows, perhaps that's a normal thing. But I want to highlight the fact that the nerve feels like its inflamed and in a different position than the one in the other arm. The inflamed one is much easier to aggravate and "find" with my finger, while the other isn't. So, with all that being said, should I just give it more time, or is this a common enough scenario in which I should see a doctor asap? lmk, thanks in advance!

Could be cubital tunnel syndrome, but more likely your nerve is just badly inflamed and needs time to calm down. I would definitely avoid any exercises or movements that lead to pain, and maybe pop a few NSAIDs to reduce inflammation for a week or so.
If it doesn't improve on a week or so I'd recommend seeing a physical therapist. They could advise on exercise and treatment as well as getting back into climbing.
