Release date for new Petzl Connect PAS?

I’ve been waiting to replace my ghetto double length sling PAS.  Having an adjustable PAS would be a nice luxury upgrade.

I haven’t seen the new version hit the shelves just yet.  Does anyone know the release date on this or did they shelve it for whatever reason?

thanks for any beta you might have!

I remember 2025 being mentioned somewhere as a release year. But hopefully someone else with a better memory or sources can chime in.

In the “Petzl gear for 2024” thread, it was mentioned that the new Connect PAS had been delayed to 2025.

I last heard Q2 2025. Petzl rep had just updated my gym’s gear shop guy.

I asked around too. Can also confirm I was told it was delayed until spring 2025

Talked to the guy at the petzel booth this weekend in Squamish, they added a hole for a small cord and supposedly changed the geometry a bit to make it easier to release under tension. Also made the cord thinner. Didn’t think to ask about when it was hitting the shelves tho.

Can't wait to try this out!

Until it comes out, a loop girth hitched, or a soft shackle could be added to a rope with an eye.

I thought about doing this but I think it'd be hard to get anything with a decent diameter through the connect tail the way it's sewn

Hey Bryan, a double length isn't ghetto, it's multi purpose and great value for money!

Tie an overhand and you can extend a rappel on the shelf. Add a couple biners and you've got an anchor.

You can't extend a rappel with the connect adjust unless you spring for the dual connect.

That said I am also keeping my eye on the updated version...

Yes you can extend a rappel with a connect adjust. You clove hitch your belay device mid petzl connect. This is super common.

You would have to reverse the rope in the Adjust to use that end.

What cord are you using for the splice?

The orange ones are CE4Y’s Quick Line, and the white one is Glacier Black’s Newt, both sold at HowNot2.

Petzl - hurry up and release this thing and take my money!!  (please)

Has anyone heard any updates on this release?  Now that I'm sport climbing more, my ghetto double length sling is really starting to bug me and I want the convenience of a nice adjustable PAS.

Why are you waiting? Don't you know all the cool kids replace the stock rope with 7mm cord.

I was also wondering the same thing. I’ve been waiting for it as well

back in the day i used to use a purcell prussik.  but it would snag too much on whatever gear I had clipped to my harness.  too many open loops.

I've been using a Rock Empire PIP for the past couple months.  It's similar to the Petzl Connect but can be adjusted under tension by shoving a carabiner into a hole on the device and lifting the carabiner....I think it's supposed to be adjustable by hand but that hasn't worked for me under tension.

For what it's worth, I emailed Petzl about this a few weeks ago and have yet to hear back. They're usually pretty responsive so feels like something's up. Maybe release dates on new gear are just something they don't share publicly, or maybe it's delayed again?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
