Wide pants for tall men

I’m tall and skinny (6’4” 185) and for the life of me I can’t find a pair of climbing pants that climbs well and looks good.

It seems every pair of pants built for tall men tapers unflatteringly toward the cuff.

I even broke and bought a pair of dead bird gamma pants. I love everything about them but they barely reach the top of my approach shoes and are tight around my calves.

At the gym and crag I see pants for shorter men that are roomy in the legs and reach past the ankles with a bit of extra fabric. These pants all seem to be made in only a 32 in inseam which turn into capris on me.

I get that tighter pants might be more practical for climbing, but I’m willing to take a small hit to not look like I have stick legs.

Would love any reccomendations I can get!

I have a pair of g-pants that are great for sport climbing but I am looking for something synthetic that I can multipitch in as well.

I’m a little smaller than you (6’2” and 180) but I’ve had luck with some of the Kuhl models, seems like they are the only ones that make longer inseams. I think the ones that I have now are the Renegade pants. They last well and are comfortable

Look pretty ideal! Might return my gammas and give these a shot!

They make the gamma LT in a tall. I'm 6'5" 190ish and they are plenty long and not tight at all. Basically as you describe for shorter folks.
Maybe they slimed the fit from 2021 to now?

I am 6'4 200 lb, probably a bit shorter legs than your average 6'4" guy (33-34" inseam).  My struggle with pants is a small waist (31-32") with large legs, especially calves.  I was wearing Vuori Ripstop Pants, size XL, which were super baggy in the waist, really tight on the calves, and a bit too short.

Recently found some E9 climbing pants in Miguel's Climbing Shop, Slade, KY, and my desperation led me to buy 3 pairs on the spot.  Check them out if you're ever in the RRG.  I like Rondo Slim Size L.  (I don't find them especially slim.)  Rondo Story are similar but a bit baggier.  You can order online too: shope9.com/collections/mens…

Kuhl has 32" waist with a 36" inseam, you just have to order online.

I haven’t been to Miguel’s in a while so I’ve been reluctant to order a pair online. Good to know they fit well!

Try looking online for Wrangler, relaxed fit, boot cut. I wear 34x38 and wrangler is really the only big brand I've found that sells them that long. Not sure exactly how wide you want them but that might be the widest you'll be able to find.

Arcteryx makes a line for police & military called "Leaf".  They fit a lot wider/baggier.  Medium weight softshell - a little heavier than gamma LT.  They look respectable - probably more normal than your average climbing pants.  Come in tall sizes which is why I checked them out.  My receipt says I bought Arc'teryx LEAF xFunctional Pant SV - Black / 32x35.

Most places I know wont sell you the LEAF line without verifying your in military, police, emt, etc.
TacDis sells them, but they ask for some sort of verification, but maybe its as simple as checking a box and not really a verification. I just have not tried.
Where are you getting the arc' LEAF line?

TacDis has a line called MTHD that ive picked up some wild deals some super nice gear. The Tweave pants are some of he most durable pants ive ever had. Not fashion statement though. Still have them on sale, but no long sizes anymore for those with a shorter inseam, go get em'. The shells they sell are awesome and crazy good deal currently.

Got it here.  Don't remember having to lie, but did see "military/police only" when I clicked on it just now.  Don't know it there is actually a mechanism to stop you buying it.

The leaf functional pant in the AR will be a lighter weight fabric than the SV

These....they are a little wider at the cuff, some folks like that.

I’m 6ft 7 and ~ 200lb - my go to are Arcteryx, YMMV with the fit but they have a few models that are lightweight for climbing

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
