We are going to drive up to eastern Washington to climb at index at the end of August. Was wondering what the best guidebook was. We climb all the types.

Seems your post is a victim of climb at change. ;)

Index might be the only crag where mountain project is significantly more useful than the guidebook. Index has had a ton of new climbs added and many climbs revived in recent years, especially in the shady areas.

Agreed it's not really an area you need the guidebook for. Especially because for the longer routes, the guidebook doesn't have topos, which is the main reason I would normally want a guidebook personally.

Sky Valley Rock and the Clint Cummins guide have topos! Just not the more recent Kalman/Van Beiene guide.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
