Retractable key chains for ground-up development tools

I've been using https://www.amazon.ca/Kuuqa-Pieces-Heavy-Retractable-Inches/dp/B07N4NJ1WV to hold lightweight tools such as a scrubbing brush and small pick.

This way I can use the tools and let them go and not worry about clipping/unclipping a carabiner during difficult ground-up development. (I'm also not a fan of loose leashes. They get in the way when making free moves)

I'm going to put my wrench and hole brush on one as well, but I'm looking for a higher quality product.

I've found the cord cuts the plastic or metal ring where it enters the disk, causing grooves in which it can get caught making it difficult to extend or retract.

Wondering if any other folks use something similar, and can recommend something that will last longer than a couple of days. If not, I'll likely order a number of different options to try out.

If you do try out some of the heavy-duty options out there, please post what their holding weight is -- guessing you can't put a hammer on one, but maybe a plumber's wrench, or a Doodad/YABR?

I doubt I'll try any heavy-duty options. My needs are light. Scrub brush, little pick for cleaning cracks, hole-brush & wrench.

Bigger stuff I use regular elastic tool leashes.
Hammer is leash & magnetic holster.

Drill is leash & one of these in an ice clipper slot.

Big fan of ground-up development here.

I haven’t tried this, but it seems like a small retractable dog leash would serve your purposes. We have one for our dog-who-is-not-a-crag-dog and the webbing is 11cm wide, durable and strong enough for those tools. You’d want to trim it to your desired length lest you drop the hammer and it fully extends the leash to ten feet.

I have used this retractable key holder for my knife & nut tool for roughly 8 years now. I haven’t noticed any issues with the cord cutting into the plastic:

This is what I'm trying out next. Got a couple in the other day. Will switch out the accessory carabiner, though, the one they come with is very heavy. (The grams count ground up!)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
