Rab VR Summit jacket pull cord neck tightening
|
The pull cord doesn't come with cord locks to tighten the neck area when weather conditions require the area to be warm. I was wondering if someone is aware of any cord lock mechanism that can be opened and then closed with a click system rather than having to cut the cord grips on both ends in order to place the cord locks. |

A temporary solution could be feeding a bight of the elastic through the cord lock (the cord looks skinny enough for this to be possible). |

It’s pretty easy to carefully take the end pieces off it just requires a tiny regular screw driver . Once you get them off you can slide on cord locks, then put the end pieces back on. |

Have a feel for a flat hidden button under the fabric, I know that Mountain Equipment (another UK brand) manage some of their cord locks that way. |

Thanks for your replies. I'll look into them. Btw, forgot about the knot thing. A hitch knot applied placed against the grommet would do the job. Didn't think of it until one of you mentioned so thanks! AFIK, there are no hidden cord locks inside the collar but I'll check again to be 100% sure as I'm not home right now. |

There are definitely cord locks in there. See this video: |

Very odd design for sure and no intuitive at all. I couldn't find in Rab's product description that particular feature. They just left it out completely. https://rab.equipment/eu/mens-vapour-rise-summit-jacket Well at least this thread will help other users in the future |

Concealed cord locks are the new normal, started out with cohesive cordlocks in waterproofs, companies have since realised glueing it in place is both expensive as a process and royalties and also introduces a failure point for delamination. Definitely not quite as ergonomic or sleek though. |
