Largest Screw Lock Carabiner?
|
I'm looking for a large screw lock carabiner, ideally an oval that is large enough to fit a clove hitch on both ends. The Black Diamond Rocklock Twistlock is only wide enough on the top side, the bottom side is too small. I would like a biner where both sides are as wide as the top side of he Rocklock. Anyone have any ideas? thanks edit: only the two action twist lock, not the triple action twist pull. |

The petzl AM'D is pretty big and though it's not an oval, it's big on both ends. The petzl OK is an oval though not as big as the AM'D |

Petzl William is maybe the largest “normal”, though DMM has some large options also. Otherwise you’re going to look into rope access and arborist equipment. |

I just made cloves on my Petzl William (big ass HMS) and my Petzl OK (pretty big oval). The William worked better for holding a clove down in the seat of the biner. I mean, they both worked, but on the OK, it took a little extra intention to dress the clove. When I just made an air clove and then yanked one strand to dress it, the clove kind of flipped and rode up the spine. The seat of the William is noticeable broader than that of the OK. I bet the AMD mentioned above would work well too. |

William is petzl's biggest. |

Check out DMM’s website, they do climbing and “professional” biners and you can select specifically the 2 action lock mechanism you want. |
|
What will you be using it for? I’m trying to think of a situation in which I would clove both ends of a single carabiner and coming out blank. |

Omega pacific. Just googled. Here is an interesting one Omega Pacific Raider+ Aluminum Keylock 3-Stage Quik-Lok Carabiner |

DMM boa is the largest climbing carabiner on the market. |

Jenks' store has both a great selection and more importantly unique measurement info that is hard to find even from manufacturers. |
