Kilter board etiquette

So when more than one person is at the kilter board at the gym wanting different angles, how do you guys normally handle that?  I was wanting 50, dude was wanting 25, seemed like it took forever to go back and forth. I’m wondering if the person who came first should have just had the right of the way with the angle?  Thanks.

Person who came later? No no.... first person there.

I’d say it’s ultimately first person there gets their choice, but don’t be a dick. You’re in a commercial gym and it’s there for everyone to utilize. Work a few problems at your desired angle and then let someone else get some time on what they want. Or split the difference and go 35 or 40 degrees.

 Lol @ “Split the difference”,
Bro just do your V1 at 40 instead of 25.  No big deal.

I mean its obviously first person there gets the angle but I'll admit I get irrationally annoyed when the kilter is below 30 degrees

I think you both have climb each other's climb on both angles, first person to fall must brush every hold and leave the premises for at least 24 hours.

Our gym has non-adjustable board, so that solves the problem. ;)

I’ve had the interactions play out every which way at adjustable boards, so I wasn’t aware that there was a set etiquette related to this. Whenever I’ve been to the gyms with adjustable boards, it’s like a novelty thing for me, bc all of a sudden there are new problems at every angle, and I would definitely just stick with whatever angle the first-there person wanted…

But honestly, unless you are doing some timed intervals on easy climbs, I really don’t see a problem with adjustments back and forth. How long did it take to adjust? Surely not more than 30 seconds? If you are doing limit bouldering, you need to rest couple minutes between attempts, so it seems like not a big deal…

Kilter board sucks at anything lower than 50 degrees anyway so you were right.
steeper angle gets it.

You need to come online to ask this?  You’re an adult- figure it out.

That's my thought about many posts:

What rope/shoes/ backpack should I get?

Where should I go for my climbing trip?

And on and on!

You can't really "figure out" etiquette without asking people. That's not how etiquette works.

"Adjust the angle each go", "first person decides", "majority decides" are all pretty plausible outcomes and I wouldn't have known the answer before this thread.

If you ask the guy using it and he says "first person decides" you don't know if that's true or if he's just being a dick. Maybe he also goes out and tries to reserve a crag for his TR crew.

Kilter board adjustment - 32 seconds. Wouldn't most people rest longer than that between their attempts at a problem?

It's clear if you're not complying with accepted etiquette: Hates stares from the climbing community

Ask the person you’re climbing around how they would like to do it.  If you don’t like their response it’s up to you how you’re going to deal with it like an adult.   I suppose you could show them this thread however, I don’t think it would help persuade anyone.

Simple.

I heard online it was 31 seconds.
