Anyone know if the river is open to kayak/paddleboard down?

Called the ranger office but no answer.

Thanks

No boating signage was up when I left the Valley this past Tuesday.

I've been camping in the valley each of the past 7-8 years, always in North Pines. I wouldn't bother attempting to raft this late in the year. The past 2 years I went early June and the water was great. The 2 prior I went late July and had to drag my raft quite a few times. Yosemite closed it's rafting operation in mid-July this year.

If you do decide to go, you can now put in farther up river (I put in at the beach in North Pines) and you can go farther down. Curry Village rafts still have to exit at Sentinal Beach, but private rafts can continue on to Cathedral (there is parking). That added a gorgeous 2 hours to the trip. We were the only people on that stretch of the river and the views of El Cap were amazing.

This section of river is open to boating and rafting each day when the gage height at Pohono Bridge is below 7 feet at 8 am. 7.7' today. But it looks like it dropped a lot since the last week's average so I'd expect soon.

Paddleboard is the most fun because it makes class 2 feel like class 4. Paddle up Yosemite Creek (just past Sentinel Dr and Superintendent's bridge) towards Yosemite Falls for a beautiful side journey.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
